I scored on four things: did it finish, did it finish correctly, what did it cost to find out, and could I debug it when it failed. That last one matters more than people admit. An agent that fails loudly at step three is more useful than one that fails quietly at step forty.

I also cross-checked every claim against public leaderboards (SWE-bench Verified, Terminal-Bench 2.1, OSWorld 2.0, OSWorld-Verified, GAIA), vendor pricing pages as of August 2026, and community threads on r/ManusOfficial, Hacker News, and GitHub issue trackers. Where a vendor's launch-table number disagreed with the project's own leaderboard, I used the leaderboard.

Benchmark name collisions are now a real problem. 6. Manus — The Most Capable General Agent, and the Most Financially Hazardous

Mini verdict: Manus is the real thing and I cannot recommend it unreservedly. It runs a multi-agent system that decomposes your goal into subgoals, assigns specialists (one browses, one analyzes, one writes code, one builds slides) and routes each subtask to whichever model fits: Claude, GPT-5, Qwen. Give it "research the top ten competitors in our space, score them on five dimensions, and produce a deck" and it will actually produce the deck. Nothing else in this list handles open-ended work that well.

The problem is the credit system, and it is not a minor problem.

A DEV Community writer analyzed 50+ Reddit posts about Manus credits in April 2026 and the pull quotes are brutal. My actual recommendation on spend: start at $20 to $40/month total, on one agent, for one workflow. Measure hours saved for a month. Only then scale. Honest limitations: where AI agents still fall apart in 2026

Every single one of those is an engineering problem, not a model problem.

On r/ManusOfficial, the credit system dominates every thread. Real quotes: "I used 30% of my monthly credits in ONE session" and "At nearly $60/month and how fast the credits burn without desired output, this is going to be my final month."
